About Me
Biography
Noora Rahman is a sophomore from Ellicott City, MD studying Bioengineering at the University of Maryland. Her interests include designing and prototyping specifically through various software. Her prospective research aims to design prosthetics and improve various prototypes in order to create the most ideal prosthetic limb. These aspirations stemmed from interning at a lab where she examined the behavior of articular cartilage in order to treat osteoarthritis. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, she plans to work in designing and implementing prosthetics to patients in need of an artificial limb.
As a College Park Arts Scholar, Noora intends to explore her research interests through her culminating capstone project she will be completing by the end of this school year. As a bioengineering major, art doesn’t directly influence my future professions or relate to my major. She hopes to pursue a career focusing on the brain’s neural responses and signals to a prosthetic limb. Last semester, Noora participated in the Art Therapy and Stress Relieving workshop which she thoroughly enjoyed. The workshop explored various stress relieving techniques and its effects on a person. She’s hoping to research more about its effects on the brain and how they may be similar to the brain signals related to prosthetics.
